Does PRO-VIONIC 10 contain any harsh ingredients?
No. PRO-VIONIC 10 contains two ingredients.
Certified distilled water, pH ~5.8, TDS below 5 mg/L, certified by a Certificate of Analysis.
Non-ionic surfactant in the <5% band under Regulation EC 648/2004.
There is nothing else. No isopropyl alcohol, no volatile solvents, no organic solvents of any kind. It has been formulated to be safe and non-reactive on standard PVC vinyl records.
Why Amber glass bottles rather than plastic ones?
Pro-Vionic 10 is packaged in amber glass for two specific reasons.
Certified distilled water is chemically aggressive. Unlike ordinary water it carries no dissolved minerals or buffer compounds that compete for leaching sites, which means it will extract trace contaminants from a plastic container more readily than tap water or mineral water would. Packaging a certified fluid in plastic risks introducing the very contamination the certification was designed to exclude. Amber glass is chemically inert. It contributes nothing to the contents.
The amber tint absorbs ultraviolet light and reduces light-initiated oxidation of the formula during storage. Combined with an airtight seal, this protects the integrity of the fluid from the moment it leaves our production batch to the moment it contacts your record.
Your record deserves what is inside the bottle. The bottle itself should add nothing.
Why we use HDPE for the larger quantities. Our bulk sizes are supplied in laboratory-grade HDPE, the same container class used throughout the laboratory water industry for certified high-purity water. Glass earns its place on our shelf sizes, where light exclusion protects an unpreserved water-based fluid over a long shelf life. At 1L and 5L, the priorities change: safe transport, practical handling and the container standard the water industry itself trusts.
Do you sell a concentrated version?
No. We do not sell a concentrate for a straightforward reason: our formula is a closed loop, produced and tested with a specific ultra-pure water specification. If we supplied a concentrate, we would have no control over what the customer mixes it with, and it would not be the same product.
Closed loop means the formula leaves our production facility exactly as specified and reaches your record without any intermediate mixing, dilution, or opportunity for contamination. You are applying the true formula directly to your vinyl, nothing added, nothing changed.
What cleaning methods can I use?
PRO-VIONIC 10 works most efficiently with a vacuum record cleaning machine, a final rinse is not mandatory but is recommended for the best possible result.
For manual cleaning, use our microfibre cloths, two cloths are recommended, one for wet application and one for drying, for effective cleaning and drying action.
We supply Pro-Vionic Ultra-Pure Water in a range of sizes in our online shop, specifically for use as a final rinse.
Are your products safe for all types of vinyl?
Yes. PRO-VIONIC 10 is formulated for use on all standard PVC vinyl formats - 12-inch, 7-inch, and 10-inch records at all speeds and pressing weights.
78rpm Shellac Pressings
PRO-VIONIC 10 has not been independently tested on 78rpm shellac pressings. We are aware that leading archival institutions including the Library of Congress recommend aqueous surfactant-based cleaning solutions for shellac discs, and our formula is consistent with that approach. However until we have completed our own testing we cannot confirm safety on shellac and cannot recommend it for that purpose. We will update this guidance as soon as testing is complete.
Acetate Lacquers
PRO-VIONIC 10 must not be used on acetate lacquer discs. Acetate is chemically sensitive and we have not tested this format. Until independent testing is completed we do not recommend its use on acetate under any circumstances.
What kind of water do you use in Pro-Vionic 10?
Pro-Vionic 10 uses UK-produced ultra-pure water, 0ppm, verified by Certificate of Analysis. On evaporation from the groove surface, this water leaves no meaningful mineral deposit of any kind.
Every batch is supplied with a Certificate of Analysis confirming it meets our specification before use.
